World Vegan Day

... was established in 1994 by Louise Wallis, then Chair of The Vegan Society in the United Kingdom, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the organization and the coining of the terms "vegan" and "veganism".

Although I've only been Vegan just under 2 years, I was before that, vegetarian for almost 40 years.

The thought of any animal suffering just to satisfy my tastebuds is an anathema to me, whilst I also understand that being Vegan is not always available to many who have either a lack of money or the means, this however is not something that most of the western world suffers from.

How people can square loving dogs and cats and being outraged by other cultures eating them, yet still eat intelligent animals like pigs or octopus is beyond understanding.
