Ràdio van bé a powerful medium with which to get messages across - first proved by the panic caused by the first radio programme if 'War of the Worlds'.

This year the theme for this day is Radio and Peace. How easy it is to anger people with a radio broadcast, UNESCO's aim this year is to promote the use of the radio as a "weapon" of peace.
