Mark Tullett
Virgin of Mercy
Today Barcelona celebrates the day of its patron saint and is a holiday in the city: the feast of La Mare de Deu de la Mercè – Our Lady of Mercy. She was proclaimed patroness of the city in 1637, following her intervention in dealing with a plague of locusts. I think we need her back today to help it with the current pandemic.

There is a church in Barcelona dedicated to the virgin of Mercy called the Basilica of our lady of Mercy, in Carrer de Merce, which is usually missed out of tourist visits, but is well worth a trip to check it out.
