Sunday Opening

Something visitors and residents of Vilanova have been divided about is whether Sunday opening of commercial properties should be permitted. Personally I like that most shops are still closed on Sundays but I have enough time during the rest of the week to shop. Anyone working a full, sometimes 6 day week, obviously may find Sunday a better time to shop.

In 2018 the local council applied to the Generalitat (Catalan Parliament) to request Sunday opening, being a tourist town. This was granted for the central zone and area by the sea.

Now the council are considering making Sunday opening possible throughout the town, this will give the go ahead for a new super-(hyper?)market in la Collada, and obviously be applicable to the new shopping centre being built in the North of town.
