Salvia

... Or in English, Sage - the answer to Sunday's challenge. Well done Bernard, Edith and Jane.

The leaf can be used for digestive problems, including loss of appetite, flatulence, gastritis, diarrhea, bloating, and heartburn. It can also be used for reducing overproduction of perspiration and saliva; and is said to help with depression, memory loss, and Alzheimer's disease.

I like to use it to mage stuffing balls, mixed with onion and breadcrumbs. It can be used in many other recipes, including sausages, pies, and sauces.

Sage can also clear bacteria in the air. Sage smoke offers rapid delivery to the brain and efficient absorption to the body. Scientists have observed that it can clear up to 94 percent of airborne bacteria in a space, disinfecting the air.
