Penedès

Vilanova is the capital of the local area of Garraf and part of the Penedès wine region in Catalunya.

Penedès is pronounced pen-ah-dez, the name of the region and the wines from here.

Penedès is considered one of the best wine producing areas in Spain, which is probably why it's consumed here more than exported. I can well attest to it being a good wine having sunk a few (maybe more than) over the years. And should you come stay in TdM perhaps we could share a bottle.

There are many varieties / wine producers around Vilanova, many of which have tours of their vineyards and bodegas. Later posts will cover some of these 'names' like Jaume Serrat, Mas Comtal, Torres, Albet i Noya.... and more...
