International Beer Day

A beer with your friends after a day at work, or at an event, makes you feel good, resuscitation when it's well chilled, as it usually is here. Beer is one of the most popular beverages around the world. And what better day to enjoy a glass or two than today, International Beer Day?

International Beer Day was started 2007 in Santa Cruz, California, and now is celebrated in many countries round the world.

Here beer, or rather cerveza, is popular at any time of the day, as can be seen when passing a bar between the hours of breakfast and midnight, and often beyond (when there's no curfew).

Perhaps the most popular beer here is the locally made Estrella. Have you ever seen the huge silos just outside the airport? Estrella is the biggest and most commercially distributed lager made in Barcelona, and has been made to the same recipe since 1876. Its trademark, naturally is a gold star, and can be seen throughout the province.
