Today is independence Day in Ukraine. In 1991 the Ukraine was formed as former States broke away from the former USSR.

Although Russia invaded the Ukraine in February this year it seems that is now almost a forgotten story for news outlets.

The war is in a stalemate, with Russia having taken over the vast majority of the far eastern regions and Ukrainian forces slowly trying to retake the southern territories and President Zelenskyy has banned all celebrations for Independence Day in 2022, warning Ukrainians that Russian forces may launch major attacks to mark the day.

May they have freedom and peace again soon.
