Happy Mothers' day.

Or to be more correct Happy Mothering Sunday.

Having had fathers' day this week in Spain today is Mothering Sunday in the UK.

Mother's Day in the UK is always held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, because this was when Christians would visit their 'mother church', which is also why we often refer to it as Mothering Sunday. Other countries like the US specifically refer to the day as Mother's Day and theirs wasn't founded through religion, and is the second Sunday in May.

In Spain mothers day is celebrated on the first Sunday in May, a day dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who also has a day in December.

So to all the mothers in the UK we say:
