Galician Literature Day

Some of the autonomous regions of Spain have their own language, of which they are justifiably very proud.

Today Galucia, in the North West corner of Spain celebrates theirs with a literature day.

Galician Literature Day is a public holiday in Galicia, and is a celebration of the Galician language and its literature, inaugurated by the Royal Galician Academy in 1963. It has taken place on May 17 each year since 1963.

And below is the flag belonging to the region.
