Fiesta Nacional

Today is a holiday in all of Spain for Fiesta Nacional. Here in Catalunya it is not a widely celebrated fiesta.

The day commemorates Columbus' arrival in what is now the United States on this day in 1492.

Traditionally there is a parade in Madrid by the services presided over by the king, but whether that will happen this year.

The day is also celebrated in the states as Columbus Day, and in various parts of the world as Hispanic day.
