Festa Major

Today is a holiday in Vilanova for the end of Fiesta Mayor.

The day is normally spent recovering from the excesses of the previous night, when the town would normally be alive with dances going on in the main squares and on the Rambla, after a most amazing firework display on the beach. All free of course.

This year the celebrations have been much reduced (see poster below), with a promise of double trouble next year.

Many a year past we have gone out early for dinner and a couple of drinks only to roll home at 3 or 4 the followng morning, still much earlier than many.

Visca Festa Major

Visca Vilanova

Someone asked why I sometimes say Festa Major, and sometimes Fiesta Mayor. It's simple - the first is Catalan, and the other Spanish.
