Chocolate Cake Day

Chocolate first appeared as early as the mid 18th century, so I can only presume it wasn't long before chocolate cake came along too.

Originally chocolate was only consumed as a drink, hot chocolate here in Vilanova is incredible and nothing like the cocoa of the UK, but later became popular as a solid treat.

Naturally there's only one way to celebrate Chocolate Cake Day, yep by baking a chocolate cake and enjoying it. I have to say the recipe I have results in one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever tasted, and is really popular at our afternoon teas.
