Last night Carnval finally came home, with the arrival of the King, Carnestoltes.

His arrival at the station was a little uncustomary, as was his entry into town. Normally he would have been accompanied by a parade but this year, only with the Diablos and in a cadilac.

The opening speech of carnal was as political and offbeat as usual, with a pretender to the thrive, claiming he was king last year, so the carnaval should be his this year.

The Placa de la Vila was full, and there was plenty of amusing fancy dress - it almost felt normal.
