Throughout the year Vilanova i la Geltru enjoys a wealth of fiestas and festivals. There are several Public holidays passed down from the various regions to which Vilanova i la Geltru belongs - International (I), Spanish (S), Catalunyan (C) and holidays specific to the city (VNG). Snything in the list below that does not have one of the references beside it is a fiesta but not a public holiday.

17 Tres Tombs - St Anthoni Abat's day- Patron saint of the town (VnG)
A day for animals to be blessed in the church, and a
parade of horse, horse and carriages, horse and carts
FEBRUARY/MARCH
Carnaval - A week long celebration that ends on Ash Wednesday.
Every day something different happens from the Thursday
of the Meringada to Comparses on the Sunday. Fancy dress
is a must. This really is a festival not to be missed.

23 St Jordi's day - Patron Saint of Catalunya - Roses and Books are sold
all over town to celebrate this day, and the legend of
St George.

Corpus Christi (occasionally falls in May) - SItges Flower festival.
23/24 Festival of Sant Joan (S) - Fireworks and bonfires on the beach

25 St James' Day - Patron saint of Spain
AUGUST
Fiesta Major - The town's main summer festival which starts in July
With various events and culminates on the 5th August.
All the Barrios each have their own 'big Party' during
the summer months
