Temps de Vi /Wine Festival

This weekend coming 3 - 5 June is the first of the bi-annual wine festivals in Vilanova. Over the coming days stalls will be erected all along the main Rambla and in the larger squares of the town ready for Wine growers to share their wares and knowledge. For all wine (and Cava) lovers the streets are the place to be over the weekend. Glasses are supplied and you simply buy vouchers that you can use on whichever stall you decide to try from. Prices vary from stall to stall as does the generosity of the glassful you get. There are also some tapas to be enjoyed on some of the stalls. Previous guests have visited this 'even't and have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the wine.

Carpets of flowers.

This Sunday coming will be the Corpus Christi festival in Sitges, just a five minute train journey up the coast from VnG. What this means is that the streets will be covered in carpets of flowers in the most exquisite of designs. Different associations take on different areas of the town and apply their own special designs in colourful flowers to the streets, making the whole town a huge splendid bouquet. The work often starts the night before and goes on right through the morning until judging takes place. Over 30,000 dozen carnations will be used for the displays, along with a host of other flowers and natural products to create the special scenes and patterns. Once the judging is over t

Really?

We are happy that the feedback we have been getting is so positive. It seems some travellers are much more demanding. Below are some actual complaints received by Thomas Cook. I'm sure some of you will already have seen some (or all) of these on Facebook, but I thought they deserved another airing .... 1. "They should not allow topless sunbathing on the beach. It was very distracting for my husband who just wanted to relax." 2. "On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. I don't like spicy food." 3. "We went on holiday to Spain and had a problem with the taxi drivers as they were all Spanish." (don't worry here they are also Catalan!) 4.

VnG to Sitges

If you like walking, hiking or just being in the outdoors there is plenty to do in and around VnG. Within the town itself there are several Adjuntament promoted walks of interest. Just inland there is the Garraf Natural Park which has many national well-marked routes for both walking and cycling. One of my favourite walks, which is neither too long nor to taxing is along the cost from Vilanova to Sitges. The route follows the train line for the first part of the walk, and hugs the beautiful coast from the edge of Vilanova all the way into Sitges. The main path is along the cliff edge and has a few steep climbs and slopes to negotiate, but nothing most walkers can manage without problem. All

BlauVerd

This weekend Vilanova has an environmental fair going on in the Barri Del Mar and on Rambla la Pau, right outside the apartment. With a bit of luck our current guests will get chance to take a look around. The BlauVerd Fira is a an annual event in VnG which is dedicated to helping the environment in many different ways. There are a whole range of stalls all along the Rambla la Pau and activities going on all over the weekend. I'm especially interested in the cooking demonstrations. There's live music and plenty of giveaways. More photos on our facebook page later...

Thank You

Here at TulStig DelMar we love all the feedback we get and would like to thank everyone who has either written in our guest comments book at the apartment, and to everyone who has been on TripAdvisor or AirBNB to give us a glowing review. It's good to know we've pretty much got it right for you all. Just the other weekend we had two friends staying in the Pines twin room who were very pleased with the place for their weekend in VnG. Thank you for your feedback, and for adding reviews on TripAdvisor. It really is very much appreciated XX

Happy Mother's Day

Today in Spain, as well in many other places around the world it is mother's day - El Dia del La Madre. To all mothers, mums, mas, madres, mares, mamans, mutters ...... we hope you're going to be looked after and well spoiled today. Breakfast in bed, lunch cooked, cleaning done, flowers, chocolates and maybe out for a celebration? - well we hope so.
